THE END is a powerful 8-piece band led by guitarist Tim Willis.

Comfortably treading a distinct path between jazz and rock, the band incorporates elements of Reich-like minimalism in its approach to composition and collective improvisation.

In its previous incarnation as a quintet comprising Willis alongside Jon Crompton (alto), John Felstead (tenor), Gareth Hill (bass) and Nick Martyn (drums), the band released two albums on Newmarket Music: The End (2010) and Keep Your Chin Up (2012).

In 2013, Willis was awarded the PBS Young Elder of Jazz Commission to compose a suite entitled Night and Day for the quintet, which premiered at the Melbourne International Jazz Festival. At the same festival, the band supported Kneebody and performed with US trumpeter Shane Endsley.

Sheehan has performed with THE END since its late-2013 reimagining as an octet, which debuted at Bennetts Lane Jazz Club and featured as part of Melbourne Music Week’s Live Music Safari. The Night and Day suite was recorded by Yen Nguyen at Newmarket Studios in this new format. The band celebrated the album’s release in 2015 at Uptown Jazz Café.
